A cement mixer in the living room?

Well, OK, it's still a building site, so why not? 100 sacks of cement cover the underfloor heating.


The winter snow thawed in a single mild day in the middle of March. The narrow Lanzenbach stream flooded across the road next to the church and the road to Crailsheim was just higher than the water on both sides.

But in April the hyazinths filled the air with scent and the air hummed with the sound of bees.


and the garden gradually got established through the year...

...rather a wilderness sometimes, but always something in colour.

Even on winter days the solar collectors help make hot water

One morning, instead of Nelly the donkey, there were two Highland cows in the field. What a surprise! Apparently they had broken out in the night and had wandered into the village.

Neighbours just for the day - they were collected before sundown.

Our latest acquisitions: a lemon tree and a winter flowering mahonia

When the tiles are laid, the compass rose will be a focal point. It was cut by water jets at a firm near Saarbrücken - including the brass points of the compass.

The radiators have been added despite underfloor heating as they heat up faster if necessary.

The hall is walled off and the plastering of the walls - a tedious dusty job - is in progress.
