Spring 2003

After some setbacks, spring is coming and at least in our conservatory it looks like spring.

We've had glorious sunny days, warm and inviting (at least around lunchtime) and the sun has made us forget the night frosts. Primulas are in bloom - even in the garden, although these are bought ones. Our weather station is still in the test phase, but wind direction and force, temperature, humidity and air pressure all work. The rain meter hasn't had much opportunity for trials as it's been an exceptionally dry February.

A major job lately has been the bedroom window. Instead of a small poky attic window, we now have a studio window across almost the whole width of the room.

The first bricks falling...

Heavy work !

By the evening the wall was lying in the garden and just 4 days later the new window filled the gap - and the window onto the garden had been replaced by a balcony door, too. Just 2 more windows to replace...
Pipes and cables, manifolds and pump - every day when I get home from work, there's new progress made.
Here's the new window. The struts in the middle held the jib for the winch, without which we would never have got those windows up there...!
